My beautiful wife and I were having this discussion earlier. For the record, we have our own private healthcare insurance that we pay over $1200 a month for to cover ourselves and our kids. Even though it is expencive we strongly prefer it over being forced to have Govt. healthcare.
The question she raised was what if she was told they might not treat her for a medical condition because of her being overweight? We have heard all the BS about covering pre-existing conditions and such, but the talk now could be different than the facts later. She has had doctors suggest that she should loose weight and I'm sure most BBWs have heard the same thing, then the insurance pays their part, we pay our part and go on our merry way until the next time we need them.
I prefer that she does not loose weight because she is just the way I like her.
Since this is a BBW site and most women here are BBWs and the guys here apparently like them, I wonder just what the thoughts of others are on this Govt. healthcare issue.

I too have wondered about this. Especially since I have heard Mrs. Obama talk about overweight kids. I have a feeling we are going to be forced to lose weight or not have coverage. But I also wonder if they will force people who smoke to give those up or not have coverage?
I have coverage through my job and I like the coverage I have. I sure I can keep it.

Most of us who have insurance want to keep it...the big question is will we be able to? Just have to wait and see and hope for the best.

I for the life of me can not understand why any man would not want his wife to lose weight if it would benefit her health just because they like her being a BBW. I doubt that there are many women that would feel the same for their husbands if they knew by him losing a few pounds, he'd stand a change of living longer or be more healthy. I can understand of not wanting to be dictated to by anyone but there might be times when it could be a person's benefit. I really wonder if it's some numbers on a scale or tape measure that are more important or the person that has has those numbers. Yes I like curves on a woman but if I had a choice between those curves or the person I love's health, the choice is obvious, to me at least.

Waitin2long, I guess my point is my wife and I feel that we, our doctors and our own insurance company can make the necesarry decisions on our health just fine without any input from the government, especially a government headed up by a person that advises people not to smoke or drink while he is doing those very things himself. When you get to the end of all this healthcare deal, it isnt that the people in power are concerned one bit about the health condition and healthcare for any Americans, they are only concerned with the power they can obtain by controlling it.
Also to answer the question on another thread, major healthcare insurance providers are operating on a profit margin of 2-3 %. A good question might be this. Is there ANY government agency that generates even a 2-3 % profit margin?

Greeneyedbbw, they claim that no one can be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition, but your example about smoking or any other condition or personal habit could be true and already is in atleast one area of healthcare run by the government. I spoke with a friend today who is a military veteran amd gets his medical coverage from the VA. He told me about a friend of his who has been denied treatment by the VA because he continues to smoke after being advised by a VA doctor to quit. I don't see any difference in that and a private insurance company not covering any pre-existing conditions. Do you?

I think a person should at least be enrolled in a stop smoking program and as long as they're trying to quit don't hurt their benefits. I do think a person should try and quit though. I smoked for over 25 years and eventually gave it up. I don't see anyway any Fed plan though could take away benefits because that would be defeating the whole purpose of the plan. I do have a problem though of the government reaping tax benefits from cigarettes when and they also try and get people off of em. Do you think they'd REALLY want to get people to stop buying cigarettes?
If any government agency was making a profit, something would be wrong. I don't look to them as efficient profit makers but hopefully they wont lose too much. The USPS probably could accomplish that though.

well what makes me wonder is when Nancy Pelosi said "we have to pass the bill to see whats in it, its about diet not diabetes."
I do not have diabetes, the only problem I have is high blood pressure.
It may catch up with me later, I dunno. But I am fairly active and I try to eat good although I do have to have my chocolate lol

A insurance company will loose money out of their ass if they gotta give everybody that has cancer or what ever coverage. Theres no way they can cover the cost with what they will bring in. Your Gonna see lots go under becuase of it. Doesn't matter how much coverage you have when god says its time to go your going. People don't think about your date of death was know by the man up stairs the day you was born. No insurance coverage by the goverment or whoever will stop that.
