make mashed potatoes the normal way EXCEPT:
substitute sour cream, ranch dressing or warmed and softened cream cheese for half the milk or
add finely chopped green onions or
add finely chopped canned green chiles (go easy unless ya want HOT mashers) or a couple dashes of hot sauce
add as many cloves of roasted garlic as you like ( I use 2 or 3 per potato)
add finely chopped fresh or dried herbs that you like (if you use parsley, its gotta be fresh)
add cooked and crumbled bacon or
add smoked shredded cheddar or blue cheese or
instead of salt use seasoned salt (like lowry's)
instead of butter or margarine use Extra Virgin olive oil
These are just some of MY preferences and might not be to everyone's taste. And I strongly suggest to NOT use all these substitutions or additions at once.
