irish brown sugar cake
im not the irish you'll see its irish whiskey.
3c. flour 3/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 3/4 c. milk 2 tsp. vanilla 1/4 c. plus 2 tbsp. irish whiskey i use bushmills 1 1/2 c packed dark brown sugar 1/2 c plus 1/3 c. granulated sugar 1 c. butter,softened 5 eggs 2 tbsp. orange juice
preheat oven to 325*
1.in bowl put flour, salt, baking powder and soda. in cup put milk, vanilla, and 1/4 c. irish.
2. in large bowl cream brown sugar , butter and 1/2 c. sugar . add eggs 1 at a time beating well after each addition.
3. add flour mixture then milk then flour little at a time ending wth a flour addition .
4. pour cake batter into a greased and floured bundt pan or a tube pan.bake 1 hr and 25 min. or until cake springs back when you touch it lightly and toothpick comes out clean when put in center.
5. cool 10 min then remove from pan. in small bowl mix orange juice, the 2 tbsp. irish and the 1/3 c. sugar brush all over warm cake or drizzle from spoon.
