German Chocolate Brownies
1/2 cup butter, cubed 1 package (4 oz) german sweet chocolate, broken into squares 1/2 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 eggs, lightly beaten 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt
Topping 2 tablespoons butter, melted 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1 cup flaked coconut 1/2 cup chopped pecans 2 tablespoons corn syrup 2 tablespoons milk
In a heavy saucepan or microwave, melt butter and chocolate, stir until smooth. Remove from heat, cool slightly. Stir in sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, mix well the flour, baking powder and salt, add to chocolate mixture. Pour into greased 9 in square baking pan. Bake at 350 for 18-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
for topping...combine butter and brown sugar in a bowl. Add coconut, pecans, corn syrup and milk. mix well, drop by teaspoonfuls onto warm brownies, spread evenly. broil severel inches from heat for 2-4 minutes or until top is browned and bubbly. Cool on wire rack. Cut into bars.
