Mrs. Chief, what is velveeta??
By flsunshine on Thursday, October 26, 2006 - 10:12 am:
Ok I know Veleeta is cheese but what the heck is Ro-tel. Would love to try this recipe this weekend but don't know what to look for. Thanks Mrs. Chiefnut
By waitin2long on Thursday, October 26, 2006 - 11:16 am:
Ro*Tel is a mixture of diced tomatoes and green chilly peppers, spicey.
Squidge, Velveeta is an American delicacy , very soft cheese product, good for mixing and spreading on stuff.
By squidge on Thursday, October 26, 2006 - 2:23 pm:
Ty waitin, could marscapone or fromage frais be used instead of this 'american delicacy' ??
By flsunshine on Thursday, October 26, 2006 - 6:22 pm:
Thanks Waitin. Now when I go to the store I will know what to look for. I hope I find it.

I can't believe the UK doesn't have Velveeta!!! Mr. Chiefnut would die, that's all he eats--Velveeta, hot wings and beer! I don't think marscapone or fromage frais would work. Do you have Cheez Whiz? That would work I imagine...but I'd decrease the amount of the heavy whipping cream a bit.
The Rotel is in the aisle with the tomato products. I didn't know what it was at one time in my life either, now I'm an addict...they have a website, all kinds of recipes.

Have you ever heard of "Dairylea" in the UK? From looking online it looks comparable to Velveeta.
By squidge on Monday, October 30, 2006 - 12:04 pm:
Mrs C, dairylea yes, now i got you.......don't normally buy it but might give this a try. We don't have Rotel either, but canned tomatoes and chillies is an easy one. Ty so much xoxox
