What programs to use to watch the videos

Hi All!

Am not a poster but do love to view the vids on here. I see from time to time (more often than not) that many people complain about not being able to view a certain movie. I realized that many are just not that computer savvy to figure out what the cause is and just complain - well, lucky for all - I AM computer savvy and am more than happy to help.

Here are the guidelines for viewing movies. It's not set in stone and others do have their own favorite programs to view movies but it should help out the novice.

Movies that end with .avi - These movies are usually DIVX movies. Just go to divx.com and download a player. Installation takes minutes and you can then view most avi movies. Free.

Movies that end with .wmv - These are Window Media files and you current windows media player should work fine. If you need a wmv player just go to microsoft.com and download the latest player.Free.

Movies that end with .mpg - These are MPG files and a variety of players can handle these files. I personally use winamp to play these types of movies. Go to winamp.com to download the latest player. Free.

Movies that end with .mov - These are Quicktime movies that can only be viewed with a quicktime player. You can download that at apple.com. Do know why but I've seen the most complains about this type of file. Guess no apple lovers out there. Free.

Movies that end with .mpe - These are a different type of MPG file but can be viewed with any mpg player (like winamp). Winamp.com - Free.
